Ford Edge Sport Eco-boost
"Another Brilliant Idea with an Eco-boost? Are you out of Ideas already? When will you end this Eco and Boost malarky? Whats next, the Econoline? Wait, that is actually a good idea for a sports van, but if you use it you have NO imagination!"
Probably some of the things you might be thinking, but man this is as good as a Brilliant Ideas get. 2 prime examples for you dear readers: Trailblazer SS, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8. Lets get it clear, this isn't a V8 rumble and grumble machine like the other two, nor will it outrun the Jeep, but this would be a damn good move from Ford.
Its as simple as sneezing, grab the Ford Edge with all the sport appearance goodies, insert the 3.5 Litre Eco-Boosted Twin Turbo Magic, and. Uhm well you're done. Traction? AWD. Steering Feel and presition. Its an Edge, you won't autocross it (actually, please do). Luxury or superior amenities to other more plebeian Edges? Do the same as with the Explorer Sport. Price? $41K base, $45K Loaded.
Why does Ford need to do this? Well, when Chevy made the Trailblazer SS it competed with the Jeep GC SRT-8, and it demonstrated the love of the fast American SUV. It obviously won't be a top seller, as the Edge isn't a top seller either, nor will it go against the SRT ( That is up there with ZeGermans). What this would do is ignite the passion Americans once had with fast, stealthy, mid-size SUVs. The passion, for a 365 HP sand 420 lb.ft. of Torque.
Special recognition to BoxerClassic ,troublesome iconoclast whom he helped me out get the idea for this Brilliant Idea.

That Eco-Boost is like the best thing that has happened to Ford since Iacocca

Still waiting for a new Trailblazer based on the Colorado platform. Drop the 5.3 in and slap an SS badge on that tailgate.
But I'd drive an ecoboost Edge in the mean time.

it's always been eerie to me that the TTV6 EB makes the exact same peak power and torque as my wrx

Oh absolutely not! The original is simpleness and stealthiness up to 10, not 11, only the RAV-4 can achieve that, but a nice 10.

You mean the RAV-4 V6 the offered for a few years? That was pretty stealth. But a Vue XR look just as unsuspecting of the performance and handling it has.
Tell me you'd expect that to beat a BMW X3 in a comparison.

already has an eco boost option. Don't know if they would option the v6 one for another 65 or so ponies.

I really think that RAV-4 is something special. I don't doubt the Vue will also be a surprise, it just not my cup of tea

The V6 RAV was pretty out there for Toyota. But alas, it didn't last. I'm pretty sure someone on the next street over from me has one.

yes, the 2.o EB is adequate. But man, imagine this with 360+HP. 0-60 guesses are like 5 seconds, which is seriously upsetting to any performance machine.

With a 0-60 faster than some sports cars, I bet it is! But was the chassis up to some twisties and was there actually a hint of steering feel? A good motor is nothing without that.

She's my baby! The suspension, power, brakes are just where I want them. I also use cheapo all season. 420 lbs ft + cheap skinny tires = barrels of fun/"teachable" moments

Well, it was called agile by some reviews. I don't know how you (or even I) interpret that. Steering feel is pretty adequate, although you wouldn't call it sporty. I think with better tires the feel would be increased. Either way I only drove it in my neighbourhood and it had like 20 miles on it, I didn't want my Aunts new SUV to end prematurely, I take the Automotive Amendments seriously.
